My name is Heribert Scharhag. I’m a local historian in the district of Altoetting in Southeast Bavaria, Germany
| |
I am planning a photo documentation about the American invasion across the river Inn into the cities Neuoetting, Altoetting, Burghausen and their
their vicinity, which took place over the period of May to June 1945
during World War II. Hence I am looking for photos taken by American soldiers of the below mentioned regiments, battalions, divisions and
fighting groups during that time.

Hohenwart | 13th Armored Division Fighting Group B |
Gehersdorf (vicinity of GumpersdorF, Zeilarn, | ? |
Simbach am Inn) |
|
Marktl | 13th Armored Division |
Neuoetting | 59th Armored lnfantry Battalion, Company B |
Perach | 80th lnfantry Division |
| 319th lnfantry Regiment |
| 3rd Battalion |
Pleiskirchen | 80th lnfantry Division |
| 319th Infantry Regiment |
Toeging am Inn | 80th lnfantry Division |

Winhoering | 59th Armored lnfantry Battalion |
| (13th Armored Division) |
| 319th lnfantry Regiment |
| 2nd Battalion (80th lnfantry Division) |
…or any other places in the district of Altoetting. My main interest lies in |
|
photos taken during a river crossing near the villages Eisenfelden and
Eschlbach close to Neuoetting, executed by the 124th Engineers on May 2nd1945 with assault boats.
You would help me a great deal if you could also note the name of the location where the action took
place on the backside of the respective photos -should this be at all possible, that is.
Please send any photos to the following address:

I would like to thank you in advance for your time and your efforts in supporting me in this project. |

Seeking information on James R Wilson and Henry Rubenstein
father is John J. Day; he served in the 498th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 13th Armored Division in WWII. He would like to trace two of his army mates he hasn’t seen since his time in the service. If you would be able to offer any suggestions about how he might trace them, we would be grateful. My dad befriended a James R. Wilson, who was from Texas, while they were in training together in Texas. My dad isn’t sure if Wilson was in the 498th, or even in the 13th Division. The year would have been late 1943 or 1944.
The other man he would like to trace is Henry Rubenstein, who was from New York. He was in the 498th. My dad relates the story of how he and Henry were walking on patrol ahead of their unit near the war’s end. A large body of German soldiers came marching at them, intending to surrender, yet all of them still had their weapons. My dad and Henry merely pointed their rifles in the direction they wanted the Germans to go, and so the Germans complied, and that was thatSeeking information on my father George Richard Timms

I am seeking any information about my father, Monroe Thompson. He was at Camp Beal prior to going overseas. Due to devorce I do not remember him. Any assistance would be great.
My father Robert W. Wagner was a tank mechanic in the 13th Armored Division during WWII. I believe that he was a member of the 46th Tank Battalion. I am looking for anyone who may
